CALIFORNIA BASS FEDERATION

Dedicated to promoting the sport of bass fishing through Youth, Conservation, public awareness.

The California Bass Federation Junior Angler State Championship was held on 30 April, 2023 at B&W Resort on the California Delta.  It was a beautiful day but it was breezy, if not windy which provided additional challenges to fishing.  However, 4 out of 5 Junior Angler teams brought limits to the scales.  Most of the fish were caught with Senko’s or drop shot.  The highest finishing teams were able to find quality fish while the rest of the teams caught numbers but could not find the quality needed for the win.

Finishing in 1st Place, our California Bass Federation Junior Angler Team State Champions are Ryder Walker and Miles Cornell from Delta Teen Team in Oakley, California.  They had a big fish of 3.11 lbs and a 5 fish limit for a total of 11.16 lbs.  It was a narrow win over the 2nd Place team Tenzing Sherpa and Kolby Johnson from San Joaquin Junior Bass Club that had the Big Bass of 5.24 lbs for the tournament and a 5 fish limit of 11.06 lbs.  The 3rd Place team, Melinda Neumann and Niko Mirante, also from San Joaquin Junior Bass Club had 5 fish for 10.98 lbs proving a very close finish of less than 0.2 lbs from 1st Place to 3rd Place.

Congratulations to all the teams that competed in what has been a tough fishery for the Delta this year.
